This is a simple demonstration of communication between a database (in this case MySQL) and Flash. This example uses Ruby on Rails to serve XML which can then be loaded by the Flash player below.

To verify that these items are, in fact, being loaded from a database, I have provided a simple form with which to update the item database. The changes may then be observed here.
